Daily in summer, ideally early morning. It drinks a lot but forgives a missed day better than lettuce ever would.

Full, direct summer sun — the more the better. This is one of very few leaves that thrives in Gulf July.
🪨 Soil & setup
Any decent soil with compost. Feed monthly with a balanced fertiliser to keep leaves coming.
🧺 Harvest
Cut the top 15 cm of each stem; it branches and regrows every 2–3 weeks all summer.

- ◆Sow in March–April and you'll harvest until October.
- ◆Pick before flowering; flowered stems turn leaves bitter.
- ◆Freeze chopped leaves — one plant produces more than one household eats.
